Agapè Children’s
Center is getting a Fence!!! I believe this may
have been a dream in the past, but now it is a reality! This
fence around our playground facility will only enhance
the safety of every child at Agapè! This
is our #1 concern. Keeping our preschoolers safe,
is just as important as reinforcing their ABC’s!!
Agapè,
through the grant writing of Jennifer Johnson, one of
our parents, and the Agapè Preschool Board Parent
Representative, was not one of the schools picked for
a grant. So, what next??? We decided to go
full steam ahead by obtaining volunteers! Letters
were sent, calls were made, etc.
Dick
Gathman, a member of Community Baptist Church, along
with Jennifer Johnson, went about obtaining prices for
materials, rental equipment for the installation, and
donations to help defray the cost of materials. We
have the “sweat equity” and this project
has emerged!
On
May 8th, the posts were dug with the volunteer labor
of Church members and Preschool Parents. On Saturday
May 15th, we will complete this amazing masterpiece! Gloria
Langston, our Agapè Board President, has written
to the local Warrenville papers and shared this story. We
have a hospitality committee, mainly made up of Parents,
to satisfy the hunger and thirst areas, and make sure
they stay hydrated!
We
have t-shirts of our 4 year old class, with self-portraits
created by these talented young artists, and any profits
from this sale will help offset the materials used. We
appreciate the generosity that everyone has shown in
helping to erect this fence! We have created more
than a fence, we have created…a community!!
